Dinosaur extinction

Around 65 million years ago, the dinosaurs became extinct. At the same time, other creatures, such as the sea and air reptiles, also died out. There are many theories for this * extinction. But, as with so many facts about dino saurs, no one really knows for sure what happened

Asteroid theory At the end of the Cretaceous period a giant asteroid struck Earth. The impact resulted in a dust cloud which circled the globe, blocking out the sunlight and bringing cold, stormy weather.

Slow death The dinosaurs died out gradually, perhaps over a period of several million years. Tyrannosaurus rex was one of the last dinosaurs to become extinct.
